My position (paradigm) is influenced by four things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I\u2019m a disciple of Jesus and have been for a long time<\/li><li>I live in Australia which is a Post Christendom nation<\/li><li>I\u2019m interested in and work with a number of Post Christian Post-Moderns leaders and organisations<\/li><li>In all that I do I look to Jesus first \u2013 The Pre-Constantine Church second \u2013 The modern church sometimes<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you start with the last point above you find the following<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jesus started His work in the harvest. He worked with the people the Father guided him to. Somewhere in that journey those people committed their lives to him (the when wasn\u2019t important).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jesus commanded us<ul><li>As the Father Sent Me, So I Send You (John 20:19-31)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u201cAs You Go about you normal life\u201d make disciples (Mathew 28:18-20)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The pre-Constantine church worked in the harvest because they were a minority group in a pagan world (similar to today)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;In the early Church, disciple-making was part of the normal life of a believer. This is why the church grew so quickly<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;The post- Constantine church was based on the thinking of Aristotle and became institutional rather than relational<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Today fewer people identify with the modern church but are interested in Jesus<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The post- Constantine church has to be obedient to Jesus and look back to the pre-Constantine church to move forward. The world has changed and we need to see the world as basically pagan (North America may have been slower to shed Christendom concepts but the church there is in decline).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many Church leaders I work with are committed to the mission of Jesus but express this commitment through a modern paradigm. My encouragement to these leaders is to spend some time to ask the following.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Am I doing what Jesus asked me to do?<\/li><li>Is what I\u2019m doing really working?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Church as we once knew it may never be the same after Covid-19, but that doesn\u2019t change the fact that Jesus said \u201cI will build my Church\u2019 and \u201cAs you go, Make Disciples\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obviously from the title of this blog I believe disciple making&nbsp;begins outside of the Church.
